Quick Update

Do you ever have those days where everything you touch just sort of goes wrong??? I am lucky to say they occur seldomly for me, but when they do, oohvey!! Crazy!! That was my life last Monday and took the whole week to get it turned back around and back on track, but it's finally back on track and back to regular programming around here....which means new posts will be available this week.

Finish It Up

Did I mention that I forgot to take my camera to Asilomar??? Seriously, I completely spaced on it. I loaded everything into a big pile in the living room to pack in the car on the morning of departure.....I packed the camera case, and made sure that I have several SD cards, and the backup charger, and the backup battery. I packed the new gorillapod (a fancy tripod with grippy wrap around legs). I had the sewing machine, linens, pillows, projects, and assorted quilt requirements, all in a pile. But I wanted to make sure that the camera was in the inside of the car, so that I could stop in Santa Barbara and take some pics, and take some pics in San Luis Obispo without unloading the car...so I put the actual camera next to my purse on the counter, and walked off and left it right there......long story short, no pics from Asilomar other than fuzzy instagram ones, a few on the ipad and the iphone, but no really good ones (which is completely relative, since my good pictures lack a certain quality)....

So, I had to wait until I got home to show you the things I worked on. I didn't have a real plan for Asilomar....I really wanted to see how I felt, and enjoy my time there, and have a real vacation. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I'm simply saying I wanted to sew on things I wanted to work on, not necessarily things that I needed to work on.....so I took bunches of projects....Summer Solstice, Forever Yours, Glacier Star, Bali Bedrunner (for binding), Christmas Pepperdish, Witches Brew, and I let the fun happen.....I didn't get as much done as I had hoped, but then I never do.....

I finished my Summer Solstice...and I am okay with it. Not super crazy about it, but I do like it, and it is in my color way.....

Can you tell which piece I don't like???? that pesky turquoise center. I wish I has switched that turquoise print with the teal on on the other side of the pale turquoise wrapper, it just needs more contrast. The picture doesn't show it too well, but it has a stripey pieced border, in accenting fabrics, which I really like.

I worked on the binding for the lovely Touch of Spring and got it all completed, and even got all of the handwork done, which was nice and relaxing.

I also got a large section of the bali wedding binding done, and I need to find some time sit down and bind my heart out....I don't really see that happening in the near future, as I have the urge to work on Glacier Star....

so back to work I will go.

Happy Quilting!!!

And Then.....

The world got back to normal.....thank goodness!!!!

It's been a world-wind kind of month, but it all seems to be getting back to normal. I took a week off of work and went to Asilomar for a week with Judy Niemeyer. A much needed vacation, which was fantastic and lovely, and caused a slight backup in real life....to the toon of crazy!! As in, no laundry done, no house cleaned, no nothing except sewing for a full 5 days!!! It was glorious, and then I had to pay the piper, and catch up at home. I would do it again tomorrow if you let me, it was that much fun, even the laundry, which is saying a lot....

First, some pics of the units from my Glacier Star, which is amazingly enough, not my typical color scheme. Yes, it is brown and orange, with a wee bit of green, a nice fall palette....

These are the baby spike S units that fit into the....

New York Beauty Blocks

Now, I just need to complete the curved seam, and this block will be finished....

And then I did all of my Lonestars (top portion) and forgot to take a picture of them, so here they are after they are added to the center snowflake and drunken geese.

And here are the border geese all ready to go...

and finally the border fabric, all ready to be cut up and fashioned into loveliness.

These guys will be the focus of my sewing for the next few weeks, I am anxious to get this bad-boy all finished up and off to the quilter.

What do you think??? Totally outside my comfort zone.....

I am alive and well

I am alive and well, just a little out of touch. I have an amazing vacation at Asilomar and have been back in the office almost a full week, and it has been a week full of crazy. Meetings, meetings and more meetings and no real end in sight at the moment.

I'll share some pics of my time at Asilomar over the weekend, after I have caught up on sleep!!!

Until then,

Happy Quilting!!!

Tablerunner Goodness

So, along with my Touch of Spring, I sent some other quilty items to Montana for beautification, as as per usual, I am never disappointed.

the lovely crisscrossed seaweed lines...

the overall piece....

More criss-crosses

and a view of the back, where you can see the horizontals and vertical seaweeds hanging out together....

And that is my new favorite tablerunner and placemats......now I just need to bind them....anyone have any clues where I put the 1895 Havana, I put it somewhere really safe, apparently.

Happy Quilting,
Catherine
